Growing up back east, having a meal at the local diner was a big part of our lives. Diners were just the spot for a hot meal, and some neighborly ribbing, mostly from the cooks and waitresses. How we loved that candid, dry humor! The closest you can come to that nostalgic feel here in Laguna is the Penguin Cafe. Their down home cooking, and friendly servers give the cafe that local charm that we all crave.

Living here for so long, I was surprised when I recently found out that the Penguin offers a cash discount. Who knew? Well, I think most of the locals knew, but just in case you're like me, I thought I'd spread the word!
